How to Change the Wallpaper on a Windows VPS

What you’ll need

An active Windows VPS in your Truobox account.
Access to your client area at truobox.com.
An image you want to use as your wallpaper (you’ll download it directly inside the VPS).

Go to truobox.com and click “My Account” to sign in. Enter your email address and password to reach your management panel.

Step 2: Open your VPS console

Once you’re inside the client area:

Go to Services → My Services.
Select the VPS you want to customize.
Click “noVNC Console” to open the remote console and reach your Windows VPS desktop.

Step 3: Download the image you want to use

Inside your VPS, open Google Chrome (or whichever browser is installed) and find the image you want to set as your wallpaper. It can be anything you like: a landscape, a minimalist background, a solid color, and so on.

Once you’ve found the image:

Right-click the image.
Choose “Save image as…”.
Save it somewhere you’ll remember, like your Documents or Pictures folder.

Image recommendations

Use an image whose resolution matches or comes close to your screen resolution to avoid distortion.
JPG and PNG both work well as wallpapers.
If you keep a lot of icons on the desktop, pick a background that isn’t too busy so everything stays readable.

Step 4: Open the display settings

Now you need to open the Windows wallpaper settings. There are a couple of ways to get there:

Option A: From the desktop

Right-click any empty spot on the desktop.
Choose “Personalize” from the context menu.
In the left pane, click “Background”.

Option B: From Control Panel (Windows Server)

Open Control Panel from the Start menu.
Go to Appearance and Personalization.
Click “Change desktop background”.

Note: On some versions of Windows Server, personalization is disabled by default. If that’s your case, you’ll need to enable the “Desktop Experience” feature from Server Manager, or start the “Themes” service in services.msc.

Step 5: Set your new image as the background

Inside the wallpaper settings:

Click “Browse” to locate the image you downloaded.
Navigate to the folder where you saved it and select it.
Choose how the image should be displayed: Fill, Fit, Stretch, Tile, or Center. “Fill” is usually the best choice for most images.
Click “Save changes”.

Your new wallpaper applies immediately and you’ll see it on your VPS desktop.

Other customization options

Beyond the wallpaper, you can personalize other parts of your VPS desktop:

Accent color: Change the color of title bars, the Start menu, and the taskbar from Settings → Personalization → Colors.
Theme: Apply a full theme that bundles a wallpaper, colors, and sounds from Settings → Personalization → Themes.
Desktop icons: Pick which system icons to show (This PC, Recycle Bin, and so on) from Settings → Personalization → Themes → Desktop icon settings.
