Introduction
When you work with a Windows 10 VPS, you need a comfortable and efficient way to reach your server remotely. The noVNC console in your control panel gets the job done, but dedicated tools like AnyDesk take the experience to another level: better visual performance, file transfers, copy and paste between your local machine and the server, and a much smoother connection overall.
AnyDesk is a remote desktop application known for its speed, security, and ease of use. In this guide we walk you through installing it directly on your Windows 10 VPS, step by step, so you can manage your virtual server as comfortably as if you were sitting in front of it.
What you’ll need
Before you start, make sure you have:
- An active Windows 10 VPS in your Truobox account.
- Access to your Truobox client area with your credentials.
- An internet connection on your VPS (configured by default).
Windows VPS from $4.99/month. Our VPS servers come with Windows 10 preinstalled, dedicated resources, and full root access. See VPS plans →
Step 1: Sign in to your Truobox client area
Start by logging in to your Truobox account. Go to truobox.com and click “My Account” in the top right corner. Enter your email address and password to reach the client panel.
Step 2: Find your VPS service
Once inside the panel, go to Services → My Services. You’ll see a list of every service you’ve ordered. Find your active VPS (it will show an “Active” status in green) and click it to open its management page.
Step 3: Open the noVNC console
On your VPS management page, look for the “noVNC Console” option and click it. This opens a window with your Windows 10 server desktop right in the browser. We’ll use this console to download and install AnyDesk.
The noVNC console is handy for initial setup, but its performance is limited for day-to-day work. That’s exactly why we’re installing AnyDesk as a better alternative.
Step 4: Download AnyDesk from the VPS browser
Inside the noVNC console, open the web browser on your VPS (Microsoft Edge or whichever one is available). In the address bar, type:
https://anydesk.com/en/downloads
You can also simply search for “anydesk download”. Once you’re on the official AnyDesk page, click the download button for Windows. The file will download automatically.
Important
- Download AnyDesk only from the official website (anydesk.com) to avoid malicious software.
- The file is roughly 5 MB, so the download takes just a few seconds.
Step 5: Run the installer
Once the file has downloaded, double-click it to run it. If Windows shows a permissions prompt (UAC), click “Yes” to allow the installation.
AnyDesk opens in portable mode at first. To perform a full installation so AnyDesk starts automatically with your VPS, click “Install AnyDesk” inside the application window.
Step 6: Configure the installation
During the installation process, AnyDesk offers a few setup options:
- Installation path: you can keep the default path or choose a custom one.
- Create desktop shortcut: we recommend leaving this enabled for quick access.
- Create Start menu shortcut: also worth enabling.
Review the options and click “Accept & Install” to continue. AnyDesk will install itself on your VPS.
Step 7: Accept the license terms
AnyDesk asks you to accept its terms and conditions. Read the terms, check the acceptance box, and click “Install” to finish the process.
Step 8: Verify the installation
Once the installation is complete, the AnyDesk icon appears on your VPS desktop. Double-click it to open the application. You’ll see a window with two key pieces of information:
- Your AnyDesk address (numeric ID): this is your VPS’s unique identifier. You’ll need it to connect from your local machine.
- The “Remote Desk” field: this is where you enter the ID of the machine you want to connect to.
Write down your AnyDesk ID somewhere safe. That number is what you’ll use to reach your VPS from any other device.
Step 9: Connect from your local machine
Now install AnyDesk on your own computer as well (available at anydesk.com for Windows, macOS, and Linux). Once it’s installed:
- Open AnyDesk on your local machine.
- In the “Remote Desk” field, enter your VPS’s numeric ID.
- Click “Connect”.
- On your VPS, accept the connection request (or set an unattended access password so you can connect without approving manually).
Set up unattended access (recommended)
To reach your VPS at any time without approving each connection by hand:
- In AnyDesk on the VPS, go to Settings → Security.
- Enable “Enable unattended access”.
- Set a strong password.
- Save the changes.
With that in place, you can connect to your VPS whenever you want by entering the ID and password from your local machine.
Why AnyDesk is worth installing on your VPS
- Better performance: AnyDesk uses its own DeskRT codec, which delivers a smooth visual experience even on slow connections.
- File transfers: drag and drop files between your local machine and the VPS.
- Copy and paste: share the clipboard between both machines to move text, links, and more.
- Security: encrypted connection with TLS 1.2 and RSA 2048 key verification.
- Low overhead: lightweight on resources, which matters on a VPS where every MB of RAM counts.

Conclusion
Installing AnyDesk on your Windows 10 VPS is a quick, simple process that dramatically improves how you manage your server remotely. In less than 5 minutes you can have professional remote access up and running, with better performance than the noVNC console plus extras like file transfers and a shared clipboard.
Once it’s installed, we recommend setting up unattended access so you can connect to your VPS at any time without depending on the panel console. That keeps your server always reachable, fast, and fully under your control.
